Chilean Wine Valleys

Only a short distance away from Santiago, rolling hills of vast vineyards are available to explore and experience first-hand – The Chilean Wine Valleys. Chile has a long viticulture history dating back to the 16th century when the Spanish conquistadors brought vines with them as they colonized the region. In the mid-19th century, French wine varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenere and Cabernet Franc were introduced. Today, over twenty grape varieties are grown in Chile allowing for some of the best wine in the world. In addition to the many wine varieties and growers, the valleys are also home to mountain peaks, clear blue skies, winding rivers, rolling hills, and the famous Chilean cowboy.
